September 2025

When the Lakeside Emporium opened in 2003, we set out to be the “purveyors of all things pleasant”.  Certainly, we wanted to make and carry delicious products.  Even more important to us, however, was the opportunity to provide a pleasant customer experience for anyone who came through our door.  As the years went by, and our customer base grew (& grew! Thank you!), all of you joined us in making the experience pleasant!  We, along with our staff, always valued each and every one of you and were (& are) so grateful for your support.  However, we came to know and care about you as friends, and, literally, the Lakeside Emporium “family”.  Many of you have watched us point to the hundreds of customer photos on the wall and tell folks that coming in to the store first thing in the morning and seeing all your beautiful smiles would literally remind us of our reason for rising that day! Our most cherished “in-store” memories will always be greeting you as you came through our door, only to have you recognize not just us, but some other customer who happened to be there too, that was once a stranger to you until you got to know them from visiting at our store, or attending one of our Sweet Saturday events.  Over 22+ years, a community was created, a “family” was formed, and for that we can never thank you enough.

We have been fortunate enough to witness the power of this Lakeside Emporium community, as you stuck with us through a very difficult road construction project, as well as during and then after the pandemic.  You certainly supported us through your customer loyalty, and our gratitude can’t begin to be measured.  It’s the kindness, compassion, and camaraderie that is so moving, and in today’s world, it is exactly those characteristics that we hope to help expand and grow to enable an even larger community to come together for the greater good.  THAT is the next area of focus for the Lakeside Emporium.  We want to continue to build and grow a community dedicated to the development and furtherance of the best of humanity, during a time when we believe this is crucial.

Stay tuned to the next issue of our newsletter for more details on how we’ll accomplish this!  In the meantime, check out lakesideemporium.com for some great items for you &/or gifts for others!  Thanks so much for your interest and continued support!

The Lakeside District is holding its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4th.  In an effort to give back to the community, participating businesses are encouraged to donate portions of the day’s proceeds to preselected charities chosen by the Lakeside business group.  This year’s “Lakeside Gives” recipients are:  Help Michigan Heroes, World Vision-Joe Lalonde Campaign and Life Align. For our part, we will be donating 25% of each sale of the Fall Fudge Trifecta (ships for free!!)  ordered on Saturday, Oct. 4th.  So, go to lakesideemporium.com on Saturday, Oct. 4th, and order a Fall Fudge Trifecta, and we’ll donate 25% of the proceeds to the aforementioned organizations.  Thank you!

Shipping news:

Though our in-store services are no longer available, you can still satisfy your sweet tooth by ordering items from our website and have them sent directly to you, or to friends and family.  We continue to make our luscious fudge, chocolates, and other treats, providing you with great options for your own enjoyment or gifts for others.  Just as we have for the past 22 years, this service is completed totally by us in our store.  We, (Laureen & Gary), are the ones making and packaging your orders, then packing them to ship, using Priority Mail from the USPS, so that your items are fresh and received as quickly as possible.  We do not use a third party.

To those of you who have been using our shipping service regularly over the years, we extend our deepest gratitude!   If you’re new to the process, we think you’ll find it easy and efficient, and we look forward to serving you this way.
